Who We Are             Membership          History of GSCA             Calendar             Events

Welcome to the GSCA website.

Founded in 1978,The Granite State Carriage Association of New Hampshire is a group of driving enthusiasts who gather one or more times monthly to enjoy carriage driving activities and related programs and sleighing when possible. We welcome horseback riders.

ACTIVITIES

Driving activities are held in various locations throughout New Hampshire and nearby states reflecting the membership distribution. There are also a few special driving weeks and weekends. The year’s events are planned at a dinner meeting held in November. Current activities include: picnic drives, driving weekends and weeks, horse camping, games for fun, and evening programs. The group is always looking for new and interesting ideas and places to drive and the activities planned for any one year reflect the interests of the membership at that time, with only the Planning Meeting and the Annual Dinner Meeting during the winter remaining constant. There is no charge for most of the activities.

TURNOUTS

Wire wheeled carts, and carriages (new & antique, restored & unrestored) are seen at Association gatherings, pulled by a wide variety of animals of both draft and pleasure breeds. The only requirements are that both vehicles and harness be safe, and the animals under control at all times.

MEMBERSHIP

The Membership is composed of people with all levels of driving experience, ranging from those just learning, to some who have been driving on all kinds of terrain or in competitions for years. Others compete under saddle in everything from rated and breed shows to competitive trail rides, and drive primarily for their own pleasure. Many just ride and drive for the fun of it and do not compete at all. The membership tends to not have been interested in putting on any kind of competitions and has chosen to schedule only recreational driving events.
